Researchers from Quemix, led by Huang, proposed an approximate real-time evolution operator using one ancillary qubit and demonstrated its application to first-quantized Hamiltonian simulation. This technique achieves improvements in accuracy and reductions in gate count, significantly enhancing the efficiency of Hamiltonian simulations on quantum computers. Particularly, practical applications are anticipated in fields such as quantum chemistry and materials science.
